Terra Preta Landscapes. An engagement note.

Website for a garden design and landscaping company

A small landscaping team in Basingstoke, working across Hampshire, Surrey and London, needed a site that could carry thirteen services with honest pricing, show the gardens they look after, and turn a vague idea about a patch of earth into a conversation. It opens on the seasons, prices its regular maintenance in plain figures, and ends on an enquiry form.

Section I

What it is

Terra Preta Landscapes design, build and look after gardens across Hampshire, Surrey and London from their base in Basingstoke. The site is the whole business in one place: who they are, the thirteen things they do, what each costs, the gardens they keep, and how to start.

It opens on the seasons, stepping from spring to winter as the visitor scrolls, and settles into the team's own voice: good earth, patient hands, and the same people from the first cup of tea to the last plant in the ground.

Section II

The brief

A landscaping company lives or dies on trust, so the site had to say exactly what things cost. Regular maintenance is a standard hourly rate, higher-skill work is quoted, and every service is laid out with its price basis rather than hidden behind a form.

It also had to show the work. The gardens the team look after are presented as places, a before-and-after slider shows one back garden going from bare soil to lawn, and the owner's story explains why a corporate career was left behind for this.

Section III

How it is built

Written by hand in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and served as static pages, so every page loads instantly and the site respects its visitors' privacy from the first click. Hosted on Vercel.

The motion is restrained and purposeful: the scroll-stepped seasons in the hero, a slow marquee of plant names, the draggable before-and-after comparison, and an accordion of the questions people usually ask. The enquiry form confirms in the team's own words and promises a reply within a couple of days.

ReferenceOn record · 2026

Haroon set an exemplary standard from the offset, taking on my comments and requests in both a collaborative and professional manner. Nothing was out of the remit and I felt that all my thoughts and ideas were valuable in creating the vision. I left more confident and excited about where my business could go after the service Haroon provided, he’ll be my first recommendation and absolute go to for all things website and tech — thank you!
